MovieDesk

Privacy Policy

Last updated September 27, 2026

MovieDesk (moviedesk.ai) is an AI film production studio operated by Neil Metzger ("we", "us"). This policy explains what we collect, why, who it is shared with, and how to have it deleted. Questions: neilmetzger@gmail.com.

What we collect

  • Account information. Sign-in is handled by Clerk. When you sign up with email or with Google, we receive your name, email address, profile image and an account ID. We never see your password.
  • Google sign-in. If you sign in with Google, we request only the basic profile scopes (openid, email, profile). We do not access your Gmail, Drive, Calendar, contacts or any other Google data.
  • Content you create or upload: projects, scripts, story notes, prompts, characters, images, video, audio, edits, and the media generated for you.
  • Voice recordings, if you use voice features such as the voice assistant or pronunciation practice. Audio is sent to a speech provider to transcribe or grade it, and pronunciation attempts are saved to your account.
  • Connected tools. If you link another service, such as an OpenArt account or an AI assistant like Claude or ChatGPT through an MCP connector, we keep what is needed to act on your behalf (access tokens are stored encrypted) and a record of the requests made through that connection. We do not receive your conversations with those assistants, only the requests they send to MovieDesk.
  • Usage and technical data: server logs (such as IP address, browser and device details, timestamps and errors) and an activity history inside projects (who generated, approved or changed what) so collaborators can see what happened.

We do not use advertising or third-party analytics trackers. Cookies are used only to keep you signed in and to make the app work.

How we use it

  • To run MovieDesk: store and show your projects, and let the collaborators in projects you create or join see and work on them according to their role.
  • To generate images, video, audio and text when you ask for it.
  • To send service email, such as project invitations and notifications.
  • To keep the service secure, prevent abuse and fix problems.
  • To answer your support requests.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising.

Who we share it with

We share data only with the service providers that run MovieDesk, and only as much as each one needs:

  • Clerk: sign-in and account management.
  • Vercel: hosting, plus file storage (Vercel Blob).
  • Neon: our Postgres database.
  • Cloudflare: media file storage (R2).
  • Resend: sending email.
  • Modal: compute for our ComfyUI video-generation service.
  • Comfy.org, with ByteDance Seedance through Comfy partner nodes: video generation requested through our ComfyUI service.
  • AI and media providers, only when you request a generation or use a feature that needs them: OpenAI, Anthropic, Google (Gemini and Veo), fal.ai, OpenArt, Runway, xAI, ElevenLabs and Microsoft Azure (speech). Each receives the prompt, reference media or audio for that request and returns the result.

Project content is also visible to the collaborators in that project, and anything you choose to publish or share publicly is visible to whoever has the link. We may disclose information if the law requires it or to protect the safety and rights of our users or others.

Google user data

MovieDesk's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements: https://developers.google.com/terms/api-services-user-data-policy

In practice: the Google data we receive is your name, email address and profile image. We use it only to create and run your MovieDesk account. We do not sell it, use it for advertising, or use it to train AI models, and no person reads it except when you ask us for support, for security, or when the law requires it.

Keeping and deleting your data

We keep your account and content while your account is active. You can delete projects and generated media in the app at any time.

To delete your account and the personal data tied to it, email neilmetzger@gmail.com from the address on your account. We will complete the deletion within 30 days, except for anything we must keep to meet a legal obligation, resolve a dispute or prevent abuse. Remaining copies in backups are removed as those backups expire. Content you added to someone else's project may stay in that project.

You can also email us to get a copy of your data or to correct it.

Security

Traffic to MovieDesk is encrypted with HTTPS, tokens for connected tools are stored encrypted, and project data is available only to that project's members unless you choose to publish or share it. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your data, we will tell you as the law requires.

Children

MovieDesk is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal data, contact neilmetzger@gmail.com and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy, we will post the new version here and update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will also let you know in the app or by email.
